Saint Uffda-Mia–First Lines of Caldecott Awards

The saints of the church always make me pause–They did what? When? How strange. How cool. For real? A legend? Whatever, how challenging!

The idea prompt is:

Saint George and the Dragon , illustrated by Trina Schart Hyman; text: retold by Margaret Hodges (Little, Brown)

Today’s idea prompt is inspired by the first line of Caldecott Award winner, Saint George and the Dragon , illustrated by Trina Schart Hyman; text: retold by Margaret Hodges (Little, Brown).

“In the days when monsters and giants and fairy folk lived in England, a noble knight was riding across the plain.”

Oh, yeah, the title! No offense to the real saints and their contributions to a better world, but Saint Uffda-Mia is the name of a saint for one of my picture book ideas. Simply, it’s based on what my retired-pastor dad says often.

Have fun, you’re almost half way through PiBoIdMo 2013!
